Luke 3: 7-18 v 11 “John replied, “If you have two shirts, give one to the poor. If you have food, share it with those who are hungry. “
He crowds came to John for baptism. He said, “prove by the way that you live that you have repented of your sins and turned to God. Yes, every tree that does not produce good fruit will be chopped down and thrown into the fire. “Everyone was expecting the Messiah to come soon. John said” I baptize you with water; but someone is coming soon who is greater than I am. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire! John used many warnings as he announced the Good News to the people.

This bible passage takes us to the preview of the adult ministry of Jesus. As we continue the preparations for the birth of Jesus, we are reminded of how to behave as we prepare to come to the stable to meet the baby Jesus. To give to the poor, to share food with the hungry and to produce good fruit. Take a step towards the stable by saying “Merry Christmas”, if someone asks for a donation say yes, or confirm that you have already given. The good news of Jesus’s birth comes with a warning, when you meet at that stable you will be changed so show it by doing good things for others this week.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, we thank you for the many good things in our lives that you have given us. Open our hearts this week to others who need our help and give us the courage to act and produce good fruit. Amen.
