1 Samuel 2: 18-20, 26, v 26 “Meanwhile, the boy Samuel grew taller and grew in favor with the Lord and with the people.”
Samuel though only a boy served the Lord. Each year his mother made a coat for him. Eli would bless Elkanah and his wife. Meanwhile, the boy Samuel grew taller and grew in favor with the Lord and with the people.
“Each year his mother made a small coat for him and brought it to him when she came with her husband for the sacrifice.” 1 Samuel 2 v 19
In this passage we see the boy Samuel growing physically and growing spiritually as he worked in the temple. He was loved by his parents and the Lord and the people. We can use this example of how to grow in our spirituality as we serve the Lord. If those around us confirm that we are growing, if our love for others grows too then we are on the right path. We might not be physically growing at the same time like Samuel, but following the right path leads to a change in ourselves that others including the Lord can see.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, we thank you for the changes we have seen in ourselves this year as we try faithfully to follow your path, as seen in the example of Samuel. Continue to guide us in the New Year as we grow on our spiritual journey. Amen
