Psalm 84 v 5 “What joy for those whose strength comes from the Lord, who have set their minds on a Pilgrimage to Jerusalem.”

I long, yes, I faint with longing to enter the courts of the Lord. What joy for those who can live in your house, always singing your praises. What joy for those whose strength comes from the Lord, who have set their minds on a Pilgrimage to Jerusalem. The autumn rains will clothe it with blessings. They will continue to grow stronger, and each of them will appear before God in Jerusalem. A single day in your courts is better than a thousand anywhere else. For the Lord God is our sun and our shield. Oh Lord of heavens armies what joy for those who trust in you.

There is a real Jerusalem in this world and a spiritual Jerusalem, a place where God is found, and we all want to go to. Joy can be found in praising God, in being assured of His strength, and spending time in His presence, and trusting Him. A visit to real Jerusalem might be on your bucket list but the spiritual Jerusalem is for all to be a part of. For the Lord is our sun and our shield. He gives us grace and glory.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, we thank you for giving us the strength we need each day to follow you. We look forward to being clothed in your blessings like autumn rains. Amen.
