Luke 6: 17-26 v Then Jesus turned to His disciples and said, “God blesses you who are poor, for the Kingdom of God is yours.”
The disciples stood with Jesus on a large level area. There were people from all over Judea and from Jerusalem and from as far north as the seacoasts of Tyre and Siden. They had come to hear Him and be healed. He healed everyone. Then Jesus turned to His disciples and said, “God blesses you who are poor, for the Kingdom of God is yours.” God blesses you who are hungry, and you who weep.” What blessings await you when people curse you because you follow the Son of Man. When that happens be happy, leap for joy. Sorrow awaits the rich, you who are fat and prosperous, you who are laughing and praised by the crowds.
Jesus turns our feelings around. In a large crowd of people who were trying to touch Him to be healed he literally turned to his disciples. If we feel neglected by God, hungry for His word, and upset because we don’t do everything how He wants us to do it, we are blessed. If people bully you, because of your faith what are we to do? Be happy, jump for joy! For those who do not take care of their spiritual selves, even though they have the trappings of success in this world, sorrow awaits. So next time you have the opportunity stand up for Jesus and be blessed by God!
Prayer: Heavenly Father, we thank you for blessing us as we stand up for your Son. Amen.
