Philippians 3: 17- 4:1 3:20 “We are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for Him to return as our savior.”
Learn from those who follow our example. There are many whose conduct shows they are really enemies of the cross of Christ. They think only about this life here on earth. We are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for Him to return as our savior. Therefore, my brothers and sisters stay true to the Lord.
There are many things I have chosen to do in my retirement. That is the joy of this season in my life, to have more choices in how I spend my day. This passage reminds me to act in all I choose to do with Christ’s example in mind. So that my conduct is Christ like, loving, humble, kind. As I head out today and every day, I will keep this in mind. The rewards in heaven are far greater than anything on this earth. The glimpses we get when we do things with God, the joy that results is far deeper than any transient happy feeling we get from earthly pleasures.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, we thank you for reminding us to have you in mind in all we do. To choose your ways rather than the ways of the world to find joy as we long to be citizens in heaven. Amen.
