Mature Progress

Philippians 3: 7-16 v 14 “I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Jesus Christ, is calling us.”

Yes, everything is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. I no longer count my own righteousness through obeying the law; rather, I become righteous through faith in Christ. For God’s way of making us right with Himself depends on faith. I don’t mean to say I have already achieved these things. But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me. I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead. I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Jesus Christ, is calling us. Let all who are spiritually mature agree on these things. If you disagree on some point, I believe God will make it plain to you. But we must hold on to the progress we have already made.

” But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me.” Philippians 3 v 12 b

It is so easy in this complex world to get overwhelmed by all the things that “need” to be done. To forget that we dedicated ourselves to Christ Jesus many years ago or just last week. To focus on that one thing. Our faith and the things that Jesus Christ is calling us to do. Even with mature thinking disagreements can occur, but we believe that God will make it plain to us. It is easy to fall back into old habits, but we are reminded to forget the past, hold onto the progress we have made, and continue the race for which Jesus Christ is calling us.

Prayer: Loving God, we thank you for sending your son Jesus Christ who called us to follow Him. Help us to clearly see and move forward on the path you have chosen for us in faith. Amen.
