Jesus clears the temple
Luke 19: 45-48 v 46” He said to them,” The scriptures declare, ‘My temple will be a house of prayer,’ but you have turned it into a den of thieves.”
He taught daily in the temple but the leading priests, the teachers of religious law, and the other leaders of the people began planning to kill him. But they could think of nothing because all the people hung on every word He said.
On Monday he goes to the temple. In the religious institutions of the time, he found thieves instead of prayer and threw them out. He then went back daily to teach, being comfortable in His own house and the people took in all He said. But the jealous leaders planned to kill Him. There is much turmoil in religious institutions today. Let Jesus sort it out. He has done it before. We the people should concentrate on His words and thus make it difficult for others to kill His spirit in us!
Prayer: Almighty God in this difficult week as we remember Jesus’s road to the cross encourage us in our daily prayer lives to concentrate on His words of love and healing. Amen.
