Spy Wednesday
Luke 22 1-6 v 3 “Then Satan entered into Judas Iscariot, who was one of the twelve disciples.”
Passover was approaching. The leading priests and teachers of religious law were plotting how to kill Jesus, but they were afraid of the people’s reaction. Then Satan entered into Judas Iscariot, who was one of the twelve disciples, and he went to the leading priests and captains of the Temple guard to discuss the best way to betray Jesus to them. They were delighted, promised him money so he began looking for the right opportunity.
Judas was a man attuned to the underlying attitudes of the people. He sensed that there was a turning against Jesus and despite the miracles he had seen chose to allow Satan to rule in his heart even for a moment as he certainly regretted what he did later. His love of money and subterfuge ruled. Satan rules in the pleasures of this world that corrupt. In such things as jealousy, greed, anger, love of money. Protect your heart from Satan with regular prayer and reading of the bible.
Prayer: Holy god who rules on the earth and in heaven help us to stay focused on you in all we do. Amen.
