He is Risen!

Matthew 28: 8-15 v 13 “: They told the soldiers, “You must say.’ Jesus was taken by His disciples in the night whilst we were sleeping, and they stole His body.’

The women ran from the tomb, frightened but filled with joy. Jesus met them and told them not to be afraid. The guards told the priest what had happened. They told the soldiers, “You must say.’ Jesus was taken by His disciples in the night whilst we were sleeping, and they stole His body.’ The guards accepted the bribe, and their story spread widely among the Jews, and they still tell it today.

The truth will win out in the end, as stated in The Merchant of Venice by William Shakespeare in the 15th Century has become a popular saying today. It was what Shakespeare believed, and it is what we as Christians believe today. Jesus was seen by many people after His death on the cross, alive, breathing and even sitting down and eating a meal. There will always be people who try to tell a story differently for their own needs and particularly today with all the “fake news” in the many different communications tools available. A journey of faith starts with the belief in a risen Christ, an out of this world happening, by a man who was also God. We believe it happened despite other stories of contradiction. Our faith story believes the many people who saw Jesus and our heart responds to the living Jesus today. He is risen. He is risen indeed!

“The women ran quickly from the tomb. They were frightened but also filled with great joy, and they rushed to give the disciples the angel’s message.” Matthew 28 v 8
