Risen Christ!

Luke 24: 13-35 v 31 “Suddenly their eyes were opened, and they recognized Him. At that moment He disappeared.”

That same day two of Jesus’ followers were walking to the village of Emmaus, seven miles from Jerusalem. As they talked and discussed these things, Jesus himself suddenly came and began walking with them. But God kept them from recognizing Him. They were shocked that this man had not heard all the things that had gone on in Jerusalem over the past three days. They told Him that the women had seen the risen Lord. Then Jesus said to them, “you foolish people! You find it so hard to believe all that the prophets wrote in the Scriptures.” Jesus went through all the scriptures and at the end of their journey they invited Him to stay. He took the bread and blessed it. Then he broke it and gave it to them. Suddenly their eyes were opened, and they recognized Him. At that moment He disappeared.” Within the hour they were on their way back to Jerusalem. “The Lord has really risen; He appeared to Peter.” Then they told their story.

It is important to tell our stories. To read and re-read the scriptures for understandings that are sometimes hidden from us but suddenly our eyes can be opened to new insights. It changes where we were planning to go. We can go back to where we started and tell our new story. Following the risen Christ as we see in the story told today is a crazy journey of ups and downs. Foolish thoughts and about turns. But what joy! There is nothing more important in this world than living everyday with the risen Christ!

” Then the two from Emmaus told their story of how Jesus had appeared to them as they were walking along the road. ”
Luke 24 v 35

Prayer: Heavenly Father, we thank you for the many stories in the Scriptures that help us to understand our purpose on this earth to grow in our own faith and open the eyes of others in theirs. Amen.
