Power of His name

John 20: 19-31v 31” But these are written so that you may continue to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing in Him you will have life by the power of His name.”

The disciples were behind locked doors, afraid. Suddenly Jesus was standing there among them. They were filled with joy when they saw the Lord. Then he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit.” Thomas was not with them. He said, “I will not believe unless I see the nail wounds in His hands.” Eight days later Thomas was with them and Jesus was standing among them. Then Jesus told Him, “You believe because you have seen me. Blessed are those who believe without seeing me.” The disciples saw Jesus do many other miraculous signs. But these are written so that you may continue to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing in Him you will have life by the power of His name.

“My Lord and my God!” Thomas exclaimed.” John 21 v 28

Jesus, the power of His name, gives us joy, decreases our fears and gives us life eternal. The bible was written for us to understand these things. Driving around the countryside this week I saw the wonders of this earth and believed like Thomas who needed to see and feel Jesus as I saw trees begin to form leaves, blossoms abound, grass so green and alive an order decided by a wonderful creator as seen in Genesis 1.  Then there are the miracles of an unexpected call from a friend when you need encouragement. He provides for all our needs. And our lives are strengthened by the power of His name.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, we thank you for the wonders of this world, the beauty and the joy of spring. For your Son, Jesus who is our example and the Holy spirit our guide. Amen.
