Acts 14: 8-18 v 15b “We have come to give you the Good News that you should turn from these worthless things and turn to the living God, who made heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them. “
Paul and Barnabas came upon a man with crippled feet. He had veer walked. Looking straight at him Paul realized that he had faith to be healed. So Paul called to him in a loud voice, “Stand up!” And the man jumped to his feet and started walking. The crowd decided that Barnabas was the Greek god Zeus, and that Paul was Hermes. The crowd prepared to offer sacrifices to the apostles. Paul and Barnabas were dismayed when they heard this. “Friends, we are merely human beings” We have come to give you the Good News that you should turn from these worthless things and turn to the living God, who made heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them. But even with these words, Paul and Barnabas could scarcely restrain the people from sacrificing to them.
Even when God performs miracles people get the wrong idea! Jesus sent the apostles out to continue His work. Just like He asks each one of us to do the same. We do it because we love God, believe He is with us, and helps us. Have you ever done anything nice for someone and they have been suspicious of your motives? I have been told I was brave to move to another country by myself but believing in a God who can be found anywhere we go helped me overcome the many fears I had, I was not brave. Come and reflect on Wednesday evening on moving and sharing how God has helped you move forward. God is good, believe that the good things that happen to you this week are from God even if humans were involved!

Prayer: Almighty God who gives us all the good things in our lives we thank you. Help us to see beyond the human to your amazing love for us. Amen.
