God’s Work!

Luke 10: 1-20 v 5-6 “Whenever you enter someone’s home, first say, “May God’s peace be on this house. If those who live there are peaceful, the blessing will stand. If they are not, the blessing will return to you.”

The Lord now chose seventy-two other disciples and sent them ahead in pairs to all the towns and places He planned to visit. Pray to the Lord of the harvest. Now go and remember that I am sending you out as lambs among wolves. Whenever you enter someone’s home, first say, “May God’s peace be on this house.” If those who live there are peaceful, the blessing will stand. If they are not, the blessing will return to you. Don’t hesitate to accept hospitality, because those who work deserve their pay. Then He said to the disciples, “Anyone who accepts your message is also accepting me.  When the seventy-two disciples returned, they joyfully reported to Him, “Lord even the demons obey us when we use your name.” “But don’t rejoice because evil spirits obey you; rejoice because your names are registered in heaven.”

” These were His instructions to them: “The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest, ask Him to send more workers into His fields.” Luke 10 v 2

Oh boy do I need a refresher on how to go out into the world for God. I was at a meeting of new people yesterday and was distracted when I was praying beforehand by my personal excitement. My pride and my knowledge went before me, not God’s blessing. I was rejoicing because I thought my skills were needed, rather than rejoicing that God’s will was being done.

Gods’ way in this world is not like an extreme rollercoaster. Yes, we go up and down as we have good times and bad times, but the dread as we go up and the excitement as we go down on a roller coaster is fleeting. The prize we should be seeking is the peace beyond our understanding and deep joy found in doing God’s work. To humbly be part of a new group to learn and follow where God leads us by blessing them. The confused, excited feeling I had after the meeting was my own making not God’s. If God wants this to happen it will despite my own attitude being too self-centered and me being self-opinionated. I trust that God will sort me out too, change my heart to be what He wants me to be as I do His work.

Prayer: Heavenly Father I am sorry for being self-centered instead of God centered. Help me as I go out into your world to focus on your blessing for others. Amen

: Holy Lord, send your blessing on all we meet today, as we go out into the world to do the work you have assigned for us to do. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
