Luke 11: 1-13 v 2 “Father may your name be kept holy. May your Kingdom come soon. “
Once Jesus was in a certain place praying. One of His disciples said, “Teach us to pray.” Jesus said, “this is how you should pray. “Father may your name be kept holy. May your Kingdom come soon. Give us each day the food we need, and forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. And don’t let us yield to temptation.” Then He told the story about a man who went late at night to a friend’s house and asked for bread. And continued “So I tell you, keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking and you will find. Keep on knocking and the door will be opened to you. You fathers- if your children ask for a fish, do you give them a snake instead? So, if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him.”

Luke 11 v 3
The whole bible is full of gifts of wisdom for us to live by. In these few sentences there are many amazing things for us to learn and hold deep in our hearts. Firstly, Jesus was praying. When asked how to pray His first word was “Father”. Having a good father on this earth who I often went to for council in my life and work I can understand that Jesus too had that type of relationship which He offers to us all. He continues by using a story to tell us that in our hour of need he will be there for us. To keep on, asking, seeking and knocking. And finally, the best gift, the Holy Spirit. If you have ever given a gift to a child who has been so appreciative, we can warm God’s heart, by appreciating the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the relationship with “our Father” is a two way one as Jesus shows us.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, we thank you for the wonderful gift of your Holy Spirit who guides us when we pray. We ask that you show us your path in our lives, as we seek a closer relationship with you and find a deeper faith to share with others. Amen
