Choose Today!

Deuteronomy 30: 15-20 v 19b “Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make.”

Now listen! Today I am giving you a choice between life and death, between prosperity and disaster. For I command you this day to love the Lord your God and to keep his commands and his decrees, and regulations by walking in His ways. But if your heart turns away, you will not live a good life in the land you are crossing the Jordan to occupy. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. And if you love and obey the Lord, you will live long in the land.

” Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses.” Deuteronomy 30 v 19a

Many studies according to the Harvard business school state the average adult makes up to 35,000 decisions a day. Some unconscious due to previous experience but many are   conscious from what do we wear, eat, do with our time and money. Some decisions are well thought out after making pro and con lists, others made in the heat of the moment can often leave us feeling as if we could have done better. Some decisions are life changing and some small decisions can lead to good or bad events. This passage starts with the beginning of any decision. Listen. Once you have heard something there is no going back. How you react to what you have heard is up to you. Today the choice is between loving God and following His commands or not. I made the choice many years ago and although He has not been front and center in all my choices since He has certainly been there with me through them all. It is not a choice that gives you a free pass to a good life, but it is a choice that is good whatever happens in your life. Let someone know today the choice you have made to follow Jesus and have faith in a God who is ultimately good so that heaven and earth can witness the choice you made.

Prayer: Heavenly Father who is with us in all the choices we make each day help us to choose your love over all else, and talk to others about it, in Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
