Psalm 51: 1-17 v 10 “Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me.”
Have mercy on me, O God, because of your unfailing love. Wash me clean from my guilt, purify me from my sins. Against you and you alone have I sinned. But you desire honesty from the womb, teaching me wisdom even there. Oh, give me back my joy again. Do not banish me from your presence, and don’t take your Holy Spirit from me. Then I will teach your ways to rebels, and they will return to you. The sacrifice you desire is a broken spirit. You will not reject a broken and repentant heart, O God.
Even David one of the wisest men of his day made decisions that he knew were against what God wanted. He chose to satisfy his own personal wants and needs instead of God’s. He realized that he had sacrificed all the joy he had when praising God, in communing with the Holy Spirit to make good decisions. In his realization he offered to teach other rebels to return to God. Ultimately, he offered a broken and repentant heart.

We all make mistakes in this life. Decisions that lead us down paths we know God does not want us to go, but we do it anyway. What are some of the decisions you have made? Were they small things such as when we get angry instead of showing patience, or other things which led us away from God. Away from the joy found in worship and prayer.
Offer a repentant heart today and to teach others to return to God.
Prayer: Heavenly Father we are sorry about the things we have done that lead us away from your path. Renew in us a clean heart as we move closer to you, and encourage others to do the same. Amen
