Hear and See!

Luke 16: 19-31 v 30 “The rich man replied, “No, Father Abraham! But if someone is sent from the dead, then they will repent of their sins and turn to God.”

Jesus said,” There was once a rich man who was splendidly clothed, lived in luxury each day. Lazarus was covered in sores and ate the scraps under his table, and the dogs licked his sores. They both died and were buried. The poor man was carried by the angels to be beside Abraham. The rich man went to the place of the dead. The rich man shouted to Abraham send the poor man to cool mu tongue. There is a great chasm separating us. No one can cross over to you from here, and no one can cross to us from there. “The rich man replied, “No, Father Abraham! But if someone is sent from the dead, then they will repent of their sins and turn to God.” But Abraham said, “If they won’t listen to Moses and the prophets, they won’t be persuaded even if someone rises from the dead.

“They won’t be persuaded even if someone rises from the dead.” Luke 16 v 31b

In this debate about two people who have lived and died is the reassurance that those who live in hardship on this earth will be rewarded in a new place after death. That it is important to listen to the words from the bible and take note of the actions of the people in it. There is however some who will despite all they hear and see will not believe.

Today pray for those whose hearts need to be opened to listen and see the wonders of God.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, we thank you for the wonderful things you have done and still do in this world. As we choose to follow you open the hearts of those around us to hear and see your glory. Amen.
