James 1: 17-27 v 27 “Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you.”
Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. And we out of all creation became his prized possessions. You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. Humbly accept the word God has planted in your hearts. You must do what he says. If you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says, God will bless you. If you claim to be religious but don’t control your tongue you are fooling yourself. Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you.

I also read today psalm 88, a sad lament about someone who cries out to the lord, day and night but feels “darkness is my closest friend.” God has heard and seen it all, from darkness to praise, from right living to wrong directions. He gives us the choice. To follow Him or not. If we want change in this world from bad things to good things first, we must be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to get angry and as we listen to God first we are transformed and then we go about transforming the world around us and refusing to let the world corrupt us. Is it a promise of perfection? No but if your path today is hard know that God walks before you, Jesus stands beside you, and the Holy spirit surrounds you. You are never alone. God can bring light even in the darkest of places.
Prayer: Heavenly Father thank you for the lessons in the bible that help us to be the best we can be with the help of Jesus and the Holy spirit. Amen.
