The Lord’s Promise of His Spirit

Joel 2:28-32  “Then, after doing all those things, I will pour out My Spirit upon all people!”

In the Bible days long ago, God’s Spirit seemed only available to kings, prophets and judges. Joel pictured a time when the Spirit would be available to every believer. Joel’s dream came true for us today. God’s Holy Spirit came to every believer at the time of Pentecost.  The Bible tells us that old men will dream dreams; daughters will prophesy; and young men will see visions. Why? Because God has poured our His Spirit among us, even on servants, men and women alike. It says that God will cause wonders in the heavens and on the earth.

This message is available to us today. God’s Spirit is available today for anyone who calls on the Lord for salvation. It also means that there are more wonders to come – maybe it points to Christ’s return to earth and His New Kingdom.  Wouldn’t that be amazing!

Prayer: Loving God, Jesus promised to ask You to send us a comforter and advocate in the Holy Spirit. The Spirit prays for us, for things that we don’t even realize what we need. And yet, God has provided this for us. This is the living hope that we have in Jesus, the Risen Christ. We give all glory, honor, praise and thanks to God! Amen.
