Psalm 40:1-3 “I waited patiently for the LORD to help me, and He turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire. He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along.”

Waiting for God to help us is not easy, but there are benefits when we wait for God. God really does hear our cries. The Psalmist is telling us in these few verses that God lifted him our of his despair. God set his feet on solid ground. God also steadied him as he walked along a better path. This Psalm goes on to tell how God also put a new song in his heard. Often blessings cannot be received unless we go through the trial of waiting. The Bible is full of stories about waiting on God. Throughout my life, I have had to wait for God to answer – sometimes answers came in just days, but other times it took years! Don’t be in a hurry. God is working on your behalf, and if we wait, the outcome will be amazing.
Prayer: Dear God, we give You thanks for hearing our cries for help. Help us to lean not on to our own understanding, but to lean on You for all our needs. We pray in the name above every name, Jesus, the risen Christ. Amen.
