Look and Be Amazed!

Habakkuk 1:1,3,5 “How long, O LORD, must I call for help? But you do not listen! “Violence is everywhere!” I cry. Wherever I look, I see destruction and violence.” The LORD replied, “Look around at the nations; look and be amazed. For I am doing something in your own day, something you wouldn’t believe even if someone told you about it.”

Habakkuk was frustrated because he did not seem to think God was doing anything about the violence in Judah. If Habakkuk listened to the newscasts of today, he might just be asking God the same questions. Why so much violence and destruction Lord? Violence seems to be everywhere. And yet, amidst this violence today, there are amazing things happening. Some of the hostages have been released from Gaza and returned to their families in Israel after two years in captivity. We must always remember that God is in control of this world.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, we are thankful that You are in control of this world. You are the One who is doing amazing things even when we don’t see the bigger picture. Help us Lord, to be more patient and to continually pray for peace in our world. Amen.
