Haggai 1:3 “Then the LORD sent this message through the prophet Haggi. “Why are you living in luxurious houses while My house lies in ruins?
In this story, Haggai encouraged the people to finish rebuilding the Temple, but hostile neighbors caused them to neglect the Temple. So, they spent their time and money building their own luxurious homes. The Temple was supposed to be the focal point of Judah’s relationship with God, but it remained demolished. And the thing was that the harder the people worked for themselves, the less they had because they ignored their spiritual lives. This happens to us today just like in the days of old. But if we focus on God first in our lives, God will provide for our deepest needs. If we put God in any other place in our lives, then all our efforts become futile. It is critical that we put God first in our lives, both physical and spiritual. Let’s put our priorities in order – God first, then all the rest will follow. This calls for immediate action on our part which will produce an amazing harvest!
Prayer: Dear God, help us to always put You first in our lives. Help us to remember that when we put You first and obey Your commands, the harvest will be great not only for our physical needs but for our spiritual needs as well. Gratefully we pray in the name of the Rise Christ. Amen.
