I Am With You Always!

Matthew 28:18 “Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

The scripture from Nov. 20 and 22 gives us some very important promises – that we are all called and chosen for a mission, and that God will always be with us in that regard. There have been many people given that honor to go out and serve God with a specific mission. And as one might expect, there are always struggles and fears in the planning and in the going! But we are reminded in Matthew’s gospel that God is always with us. We belong to God, and God does indeed call us to be His hands and feet on this earth. I asked my friend why she was going off to Africa on a mission trip. “Because I was asked.” She answered. She asked my friend and me to cover for her by writing her blogs while she was away. We both answered, “Because we were asked!”
In part two of my favourite song from More Voices called “I Have Called You by Name, You are Mine” the words by the author Daniel Charles Damon, I was comforted and strengthened by these words: “I have called you by your name, you are Mine. I have gifted you and ask you now to shine. I will help you learn My name as you go, read it written in My people help them grow, pour the water in My name, speak the word your soul can claim, offer Jesus’ body given long ago. I have given you a name, it is Mine. I have given you My Spirit as a sign. With My wonder in your soul, make My wounded children whole. Go and tell my precious people they are Mine.”
Prayer: May God bring our friend and disciple home safely from Africa we pray. Amen.
