Paradise!

Luke 23:33-43 v 43” And Jesus replied, “I assure you, that today you will be with me in paradise.”

When they came to a place called the skull, they nailed him to the cross. Jesus said,” Father forgive them, they don’t know what they are doing.” The   crowds watched and the leaders scoffed. The soldiers mocked Him. One of the criminals said “So you are the Messiah, are you? Prove it by saving yourself- and us, too, while you are at it.” The other criminal protested.” We deserve to die for our crimes. Then he said” remember me when you come into your Kingdom.” And Jesus replied, “I assure you, that today you will be with me in paradise.”

“A sigh was fastened above Him with these words,” This is the King of the Jews.” Luke 23 v 38

As I look out at the new fallen snow some of you would think that is paradise…… a beautiful landscape, a day at home, hot chocolate and a warm blanket. Others will be thinking of sandy beaches, the soft lapping of waves, and a good book. Still others a historical walking tour in Europe. There are many different thoughts about paradise, but in the picture portrayed by Luke of Jesus on the cross, can you see the contempt of those around Him? Only one person was aware of the significance of that moment, a criminal who understood that he was being punished for doing something wrong, and that Jesus was not. That Jesus has a special Kingdom, and when you understand that and believe in Jesus, He will invite you to be with Him in paradise!

Prayer: Heavenly Father who invites all who follow Jesus to be with Him in paradise help us to shine with His love for the world to see. Amen.
