Walk in His paths

Isaiah 2: 1-5 v 5: “Come, descendants of Jacob, let us walk in the light of the Lord!”

This is a vision that Isaiah son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem: In the last days, the mountain of the Lord’s house will be the highest of all- the most important place on earth. People from all over the world will stream there to worship. Come, let us go up to the mountains of the Lord. There He will teach us His ways, and we will walk in His paths. The Lord will mediate between nations and will settle international disputes. Nation will no longer fight against nation, nor train for war anymore. Come, descendants of Jacob, let us walk in the light of the Lord!

We all have an ideal vision of the world not unlike the vision of Isaiah. The Lord’s house being the most important of all, where all the world will worship. The Lord settling international disputes so that each nation no longer fights with another and there is no need for an army. And how do we achieve this?  “To walk in the light of the Lord.”

“There He will teach us His ways, and we will walk in His paths.”
Isaiah 2 v 3b

Some days it is difficult to get out of bed let alone go for a walk! So how do we create this vision or at least walk towards it? First it is a vision given to us by God. Part of walking in His path is to follow where God wants us to go. And trusting that He will give you what you need. So, on days when it is hard to get out of bed, he will send you an arm to help lift you up. Your job is to take it. When walking to the end of your driveway is impossible, walk around the table in your kitchen. It might take a week or two to improve but put on some Christian music and know that Jesus walks with you. Then when He asks bigger things of us we are ready, knowing others will be there to help, we begin with one step more, and finally we are stronger “as we walk in the light of the Lord!”

Prayer: Heavenly Father who gives us visions greater than we can comprehend lead us on the small steps of the path you have for us to achieve your vision as we walk in your light. Amen.
