Splendor of God!

Isaiah 35: 1-10 v 2c “There the Lord will display His glory, the splendor of our God.”

Even the wilderness and the desert will be glad in those days. Yes, there will be abundance of flowers and singing and joy! There the Lord will display His glory, the splendor of our God. He is coming to save you. And when he comes, he will open the eyes of the blind and unplug the ears of the deaf. The parched ground will become a pool, and springs of water will satisfy the thirsty land. Sorrow and mourning will disappear, and they will be filled with joy and gladness.

This picture in Isaiah is a wonderful picture of what life on earth will be like when God is in charge. The whole of nature will be glad. Where I live the lakes and the streams and the forests will be glad. How about where you live? What will be abundant? Fruit trees, with blossoms and then fruit of all kinds, apples, cherries, peaches, pears, grapes. Sorrow and mourning will disappear, and they will be filled with joy and gladness. Yes, we hope that world will come. Just as there is joy in the birth of a baby, there is eternal hope and joy at the birth of baby Jesus.

Prayer: Holy God, we thank you for the joy we see in nature and at the birth of a baby. For the hope that we have as we prepare to celebrate the birth of Jesus, who came to heal the lame, the blind and the deaf. To give us a glimpse of an earth filled with joy and gladness. Amen.
