The Lord himself will give you the sign!

Isaiah 7: 10- 17 v 13 “Then Isaiah said, “Listen well, you royal family of David! Isn’t it enough to exhaust human patience? Must you exhaust the patience of my God as well?”

Later, the Lord sent this message to King Ahaz: Ask the Lord your God for a sign of confirmation, Ahaz.” But the Kind refused. Then Isaiah said, “Listen well, you royal family of David! Isn’t it enough to exhaust human patience? Must you exhaust the patience of my God as well?” The Lord himself will give you the sign. Look! The virgin will conceive a child. She will give birth to a son and will call him Immanuel (which means God is with us). Then the Lord will bring things on you, your nation, and your family.

Often when describing our faith journey words like battle and fight are used as we try and stay on tack with God’s plan for us. In the Old Testament than are many reports of real battles and fights. Here a King, who is fearful about his upcoming battle is not listening to Isaiah but also does not listening to God. Have you ever been in a situation where you want something, but do not listen to those around you or even to the wise words from God in the bible? Then despite your worry you are comforted by a friend or a song on the radio, a sign is given to you anyway. God is by your side, and even when times continue to be rough, He is there with you. He does not promise a smooth uneventful life but He does promise whatever happens to be there with you.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, we thank you for the signs of good in this season that happen to us despite our stress and anxiety. That you promise to be, Immanuel! Amen.
