Psalm 24 v 9 “Open up ancient gates! Open up ancient doors and let the King of glory enter.”
The earth is the Lord’s and everything in it. The world and all its people belong to Him. Who may climb the mountains of the Lord? Who may stand in His holy place? Only those whose hands and hearts are pure. They will receive the Lord’s blessing and have a right relationship with God their savior. Open up ancient gates! Open up ancient doors and let the King of glory enter.
Today our understanding of climate change where the abundance of the western world affects those in least developed countries helps us understand that there is only one earth. When we see the increasing amount of plastic in the ocean, we are encouraged to reduce single use plastics and take our reusable bottles of water with us instead of buying it in plastic bottles. And here in a book over two thousand years old we see the same concept regarding our spiritual health. The earth is the Lord’s and everything in it. The miracle of Jesus’s birth is that all we have to do to open the ancient doors is knock. Take heart the earth is the Lord’s, open the gates of your heart and let the wonder of baby Jesus in.
Prayer: Heavenly Father who made the earth, open our hearts this Christmas season to the love that we see in the birth of your son Jesus. Amen.
