Christmas Day

Luke 2: 1-14 v 14 “Glory to God in highest heaven, and peace on earth to those whom God is pleased.”

All returned to their own ancestral towns to register for this census. Joseph was a descendant of King David; he had to go to Bethlehem. He took with him Mary, to whom he was engaged, who was now expecting a child. She gave birth to her firstborn son. She wrapped him snugly in strips of cloth and laid him in a manger. Suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared to some shepherds. They were terrified. But the angel reassured them, I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people, the Lord has been born today in Bethlehem! Suddenly the angel was joined by a whole host of others saying” Glory to God in highest heaven, and peace on earth to those whom God is pleased.”

If you have food in the refrigerator, shoes on your feet, a roof over your head and a place to sleep… … then you are richer than 75 per cent of this world. If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in a dish someplace… … then you are among the top eight per cent of the world’s wealthy. If you can read a list like this, then you don’t belong to the 1 billion people who CANNOT read… (excerpt from the Canadian Red Cross Development ups and downs.)

And a God who loves you so much His wish for you today is peace on earth!

Prayer: Heavenly Father, we thank you for the wonders of a baby’s birth that gives us hope for peace on earth. Amen.
