Sorrow!

Matthew 23: 29-39 v 29 “What sorrow awaits you teachers of religious law and you Pharisees. Hypocrites! “

What sorrow awaits you teachers of religious law and you Pharisees. Hypocrites! Then you say” If we had lived in the days of our ancestors, we would never have joined them in killing the prophets.” Snakes! Sons of Vipers! How will you escape the judgment of hell? I tell you the truth this judgement will fall on this very generation. O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones God’s messengers! How often have I wanted to gather your children together as a hen protects her chicks beneath her wings, but you wouldn’t let me. You will never see me again until you say, ‘blessings on the one who comes in the name of the Lord!’

The new year is only a few days old, and I am sure that some of you are struggling to apply your good intentions in your everyday lives. The Pharisees who applied Jewish laws to everyday activities and the teachers of the law are called hypocrites, as they too in their devotion to details often missed the big picture of the laws they so diligently tried to uphold. And when help was offered, they refused! Simply offering your day to God will result in His blessing!

“How often I have wanted to gather your children together as a hen protects her chicks beneath her wings, but you wouldn’t let me.” Matthew 23 v 27b

Prayer: Heavenly Father, we thank you for sending your son, Jesus, so that the world could see your love. Help us today to walk with you in all we do in His name. Amen.
