1 Corinthians1:10-21v 10b,” Let there be no divisions in the church. Rather, be of one mind, united in thought and purpose.” V 18, “The message of the cross is foolish to those who are headed for destruction! But we who are being saved know it is the very power of God.”
I appeal to you brothers and sisters, by the authority of our Lord Jesus Christ, to live in harmony with each other. Let there be no divisions in the church. Rather, be of one mind, united in thought and purpose. For Christ didn’t send me to baptize, but to preach the Good News- not with clever speech, for fear that the cross of Christ would lose its power. The message of the cross is foolish to those who are headed for destruction! But we who are being saved know it is the very power of God. He has used our foolish preaching to save those who believe.

Last week as part of my university course I had to watch a short documentary and then write down my thoughts. Then I read the thoughts of the lecturer. They were very different. Her focus was on the process of the decision, and mine was on the practical implications of what happened. Two individuals, two different observations. And then God in his wisdom asks us to be of one mind, united in thought and purpose! And then the cross of Christ is seen as foolish to some and to us who believe the very power of God! And others are expected to understand and to believe by our foolish preaching?
Looking at the same cross we can see death or we can see life. Choose today to live in harmony with the shared belief that Christ died so we could live, in joy, in love and in peace!
Prayer: Heavenly Father, help us to see the common goals of loving you, loving others and living in harmony together. Amen.
