Transfiguration

Matthew 17:1-9 v 6 “The disciples were terrified and fell face down on the ground.”

Six days later Jesus took Peter and the two brothers, James and John, and led them up a high mountain to be alone. As the men watched Jesus’ appearance was transformed. Suddenly Moses and Elijah appeared and began talking with Jesus. A voice from a bright cloud said, “This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy. Listen to Him.” The disciples were terrified and fell face down on the ground. Jesus came over and touched them. “Get up”, He said. “Don’t be afraid.”

“And when they looked up, Moses and Elijah were gone, and they saw only Jesus.” Matthew 17 v 8

We are all changed as we go through life. From babies who can’t look after themselves to adults who can walk miles, drive cars, and travel around the world. And then the aging stuff, wrinkles and arthritis that change our joints and other diseases that dramatically change our bodies. But eventually our bodies will be changed for the better when we pass through death to live in heaven. The disciples were witnesses of this when Jesus was living on earth. And when God spoke, they were terrified! Sometimes the changes we see and experience in this world are terrifying. But look for the touch of Jesus, who will comfort you and listen for His voice saying, “Don’t be afraid.” Amazing things will happen as you travel through life with close friends beside you.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, who is the only one who knows when our end will come, thank you for sending Jesus to walk with us, comfort us and tell us not to be afraid! Amen.
