Pancakes

Psalm 7 v 9b “For you look deep within the mind and heart, O righteous God.”

I come to you for protection, O Lord my God. Arise, O Lord, in anger! Stand up against the fury of my enemies! The Lord judges the nations. End the evil of those who are wicked and defend the righteous. For you look deep within the mind and heart, O righteous God. God is an honest judge. He is angry with the wicked every day. I will thank the Lord because He is just; I will sing praise to the name of the Lord most high.

Most pictures of pancakes are of a stack, layered one on top of the other. In this palm we see the layers of our Lord. For the layers today I took out the words that tell us about God’s character and how our hope is for a better world. He looks deep withing the mind and heart. Today we eat pancakes to use up the rich food before giving up something so that we can spending time during the next forty days in contemplation about the many layers of God and our relationship to Him. Enjoy your pancakes today! And how about spending your time in the next forty days being thankful and saying something nice about God?

Prayer: Heavenly Father who is angry with the wicked every day, help us to fuel our bodies over the next forty days with your word and your love. Amen.
