“Get out of here Satan!”

Matthew 4: 1-11v 2 “For forty days and forty nights He fasted and became very hungry.”

Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted there by the devil. For forty days and forty nights He fasted and became very hungry. During that time the devil came and said to Him, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become loaves of bread. If you are the Son of God jump off (the highest point of the Temple). I will give it all to you (all the Kingdoms of the world) if you kneel down and worship me. “Get out of here Satan”, Jesus told him. Then the devil went away and angels came and took care of Jesus.

In this season of Lent when we try and honor God by giving up something and saving to give to others we know the devil will be there too in the negative voice that tells us to give in to our own desires and grab those easy snacks to eat! To be frustrated when the weather is too snowy, to cold, too icy and we need to stay home. To be led by advertising or social media that that car will give you a good life or that vacation is all you need. Follow the example of Jesus and say “get out of here’ to these thoughts and ideas that will lead you away from God and a godly life. Resist the temptations of the devil by saying “get out of here” God’s angels will take care of you!

“Jesus responded, “The Scriptures also say, ‘You must not test the Lord your God.'” Matthew 4 v 7

Prayer: Heavenly Father thank you for the examples, Jesus gives us to live the best life that you want for us. Help us to choose wisely and avoid the temptations of this world. Amen.
