Matthew 4: 12-23 v 17 “From then on Jesus began to preach, “Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near.”
When Jesus heard that John had been arrested, he left Judea and returned to Galilee. From then on Jesus began to preach, “Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near. Jesus called out to them (Two brothers Peter and Andrew) “Come follow me, and I will show you how to fish for people. A little further up the shore he saw two other brothers, James and John, sitting in a boat with their father. They immediately followed Him, leaving their father behind. Jesus traveled throughout the region of Galilee, teaching in synagogues. And He healed every kind of disease and illness.
Jesus knew the time was right to start His ministry on earth when He heard that John had been arrested. The disciples knew when Jesus called that they were made to follow Him, even leaving behind family. And Jesus knew His job included not only preaching but healing people of every kind of disease and illness.
Circumstances have made the last couple of weeks difficult for me. I have been really sad about life and was unable to make decisions and I really thought I was losing my mind, forgetting important things, lacking motivation to do the things I should be doing. I knew I was in trouble and things had to change. I made the decision to start talking to those around me, I read my bible with more attention to the unique messages for me. And although prayer was difficult, I kept it short, help me, guide me, heal me. And here I am renewed, revived and joyful because Jesus sticks to His plan too. As we repent and listen to his word he heals every kind of disease and illness.
It seems from the story of Jesus calling his disciples they did not think for one minute they immediately made the decision to follow Him. And that is the most crucial decision for us to make either to reaffirm our commitment or make it for the first time to follow Jesus.
Prayer: Thank you Heavenly Father for the loving care you provide to all who repent and turn to you in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
