The Rock!

Psalm 95 v 1 “Come, let us sing to the Lord! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation.”

Let us come to Him with thanksgiving. For the Lord is a great God, a great King above all gods. We are the people He watches over, the flock under His care. For forty years I was angry with them, and I said, “They are the people who hearts turn away from me.”

“Let us sing psalms and praise to Him Psalm 95 v 2b”

Sometimes we cry because we are sad. I remember a few weeks after my mom passed away, I was quietly watching television, and I started to cry, great big sobs, telling my husband that I missed my mom. Then a few years later I was overwhelmed by the birth of my granddaughter, this time tears of joy! So, when I read this psalm, I was reminded of the care I received from my husband on both occasions. God watches over the flock under His care! But we also see the other side of God, an angry God. How can we see that as an important skill? Getting angry can be a protective response, in something as simple as separating two children fighting over a toy. A “no” movement or a “teaching moment”, asking how can we improve our communication? According to a life specialist “Love builds connection and compassion, while anger often acts as a protective, defensive, or corrective mechanism.” Helena Clayton.  All within Gods power, our Rock!

Prayer: Heavenly Father, we thank you for your loving care and your anger that adjusts our attitude to keep us on your track. Amen.
