Palm Sunday: Matthew 21: 1-11v 5 “Tell the people of Jerusalem, ‘Look, your King is coming to you. He is humble, riding on a donkey- riding on a donkey’s colt.’”
Jesus sent two of them (His disciples) on ahead. “Go into the village over there,” He said. “As soon as you enter it you will see a donkey tied there, with its colt beside it. Untie them and bring them to me. This took place to fulfil the prophecy that said “Tell the people of Jerusalem, ‘Look, your King is coming to you. He is humble, riding on a donkey- riding on a donkey’s colt.’” They brought the donkey and the colt to Him and threw their garments over the colt and He sat on it. Most of the crowd spread their garments on the road ahead of Him, and others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. The entire city of Jerusalem was in an uproar as He entered. “Who is this?” they asked. And the crowds replied, “It’s Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee.”

Being close to Jesus means following His commands. Some because they have been predicted to happen many years before. They are often practical- go and fetch a donkey that is in the village. And then what follows are the results of your actions, others see what you are doing and want to join in- the crowd laid garments on the road and cut branches to lay on the road and they all cheered, “Praise God in highest heaven.” And a truth is revealed “Jesus, the prophet.” And Jesus’s response also predicted, “He is humble.” Remember today that Jesus walks beside you humbly in all that you do for Him, as you follow His commands.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, we thank you for seeing you triumphantly enter the city of Jerusalem. For understanding that as we follow your commands, we will impact others, in Jeus’ name we pray. Amen.
