Mark 5: 21-43 v 29 “Immediately the bleeding stopped, and she could feel in her body that she had been healed of her terrible condition.”
Jesus was surrounded by many people but Jairus a leader of the local synagogue fell at His feet and asked Him to come and lay His hands on his dying twelve year old daughter. Jesus went with him, and the crowd followed. Also in the crowd was a woman who had suffered for twelve years with constant bleeding, had spent all her money on doctors and had in fact gotten worse. She thought to herself “ If I can just touch His robe I will be healed.” Immediately the bleeding stopped, and she could feel in her body that she had been healed of her terrible condition. Jesus despite the crowd around Him knew that something had happened and asked who had touched Him. The disciples ever practical asked “ How can you say that when there are so many around you? But Jesus kept on looking around until the now frightened woman told Him what she had done. He said “Go in peace, your suffering is over.” Meanwhile a servant arrived telling Jairus that his daughter had died. Jesus was no longer needed. “Don’t be afraid. Just have faith.” Jesus replied. He sent the crowd away, after all they had seen a woman cured. Then quietly and with only three disciples and the mother and father went into where the girl was lying, said “Little girl get up” which she did and then he told those present not to tell others what He had done and reminded them to feed their daughter.

Jesus demonstrated by the way He lived how we are to live our lives. And our goal as Christians is to be more like Him every day. He allowed His power to be shared to heal those around Him. Sharing the joy and peace we find in our relationship with God is important to do with those crowding around us. In the darkest times of deepest despair, He says “Don’t be afraid. Have faith.” We need to remember that. Sometimes He quietly performs a miracle only known to a chosen few and their job, not to stand in amazement and tell everyone they know but to carry on with the everyday tasks….”feed your daughter”. Life with Jesus is made up of a mixture of quiet personal moments and crowded scenes of praise and worship and big adventures for all to see. Joining Jesus in all of life’s moments is our goal.
Prayer: Heavenly Father thank you for all the experiences we have in our lives, the small and large miracles that we experience as we journey with your son Jesus by our side and the Holy Spirit surrounding us. Amen.
