John 6: 24-35 v 29 “Jesus told them, “This is the only work God wants from you: Believe in the one He has sent.”
The crowd were searching for Jesus and found Him on the other side of the lake. They were concerned about the practical, how did you get here? How do we perform Gods work? Show us a miraculous sign, give us that bread every day! Jesus told them, “ Spend your energy seeking the eternal life the Son of Man can give you, this is the only work God wants from you: Believe in the one He sent, I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry again.”
Most days I am concerned about the practical, what will my family eat, are they, have I completed the blog post for the day, are plans in place for the next Wednesday Worship, have I completed all the assignments for my study work. The list goes on and on. Just like the crowds searching for Jesus, they were more interested in how He does things, can we do them too, and how they could benefit.
Spirituality is about the unseen, faith , belief, and trust in a God who is good and who sent His son Jesus, the bread of life. All these other jobs are secondary to belief, praise and the connection that we build through prayer and is the priority that God wants us to have as we organize our work for the day.
Believe first in Jesus, the bread of life and have a great day!
Prayer: Holy God we pray that you will strengthen our faith and provide opportunities to share it with others as we first worship you then do the other jobs on our list today. Amen.
