Come!

Proverbs 1: 20 -33v 23 “Come and listen to my counsel. I ‘ll share my heart with you and make you wise.”

Wisdom shouts in the streets, in the public squares, along the main street and to those gathered in front of the city gate. How long will you be simpleminded, mocking, and hate knowledge? Come and listen to my counsel. I ‘ll share my heart with you and make you wise. I called to you, reached out but you ignored my advice and correction. For they hated knowledge and chose not to fear the Lord. Therefore, they must eat the bitter fruit of living their own way. But all who listen to me will live in peace, untroubled by fear of harm.

“Besides being part of a city’s protection against invaders, city gates were places of central activity in biblical times. It was at the city gates that important business transactions were made, court was convened, and public announcements were heralded. Accordingly, it is natural that the Bible frequently speaks of “sitting in the gate” or of the activities that took place at the gate. In Proverbs 1, wisdom is personified: “At the head of the noisy streets she cries out, in the gateways of the city she makes her speech” (verse 21). To spread her words to the maximum number of people, Wisdom took to the gates. “ ( From Got Questions, biblical answers) despite being in the right place , the center of commerce and all important activity in the city the people did not listen. When the words came from the heart, they were ignored. People chose their own ideas above Gods, their own way to live with bitter consequences. Look around at those who are living in peace without fear of harm. They follow God’s pathway.
