Psalm 1v 6 “For the Lord watches over the path of the godly, but the path of the wicked leads to destruction.”
Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers. But not the wicked! They are like worthless chaff, scattered by the wind. They will be condemned at the time of judgement. Sinners will have no place among the godly. For the Lord watches over the path of the godly, but the path of the wicked leads to destruction.
I am learning in my university course about human rights, what the definition of human is, and in fact if anything can be applied universally to all humans! Both words human and universal are involved in the discussions as the various countries or states of the world try and unite on a common ground. So far, I have learn’t the best they can do is 93% agreement.
I was wondering when I read this psalm who would agree with the most important choice we make regarding our belief in God or not? I know I tend to ignore the downside of unbelief, of the fate of the wicked and sinners. Here it is 100%, the Lord watches over the path of the godly, but the path of the wicked leads to destruction. Yes, we have joy when we are surrounded by Christian believers, but Jesus changed who we should associate with. Just like in my human rights course He challenged who was human, who was a sinner, and who was wicked. Yes, we need to help the poor, the widow, the hungry, but most importantly those who do not believe.
Prayer: Almighty God who is good. Help us to show and tell the world about your greatness. Amen.
