With all my heart

Psalm 138 v 1 “I give you thanks, O Lord, with all my heart; I will sing your praises before the gods.”

I give you thanks, O Lord, with all my heart. I praise your name for your unfailing love and faithfulness; for your promises are backed by all the honor of your name. Though the Lord is great He cares for the humble. You reach out your hand, and the power of your right hand saves me. The Lord will work out His plans for my life.

” I praise your name for your unfailing love and faithfulness.” Psalm 138 v 2b

My sister-in-law discovered her heart wasn’t working as well as it should, in fact it was only working at 30%. She felt tired and had difficulty with things that required extra energy like walking up stairs. Thankfully we live in a country that will investigate fixing her heart and provide her with the medication and surgery that she needs at minimal cost. It struck me in thinking about what our hearts do for us in this psalm that sometimes I give only a portion of my heart to God. When you only give some of your heart to God then you get tired of doing the things he wants you to do. Simple things like praying and looking after those in need become difficult to squeeze into your busy day. But God promises to look after us, to give us the things we need, to reach out with the power of His right hand to save us. Give all your heart to God and He will work out the plans for your life.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, we thank you for loving us and ask that you guide our days to do your work as we put all our heart into praising you. Amen.
