Psalm 49: 1-12 v 8-9 “Redemption does not come so easily, for no one can pay enough to live forever and never see the grave.”

Listen to this all you, people! Pay attention everyone in the world! High and low, rich and poor- listen! Why should I fear when trouble comes, and enemies surround me? Yet they cannot redeem themselves by paying a ransom to God. Redemption does not come so easily, for no one can pay enough to live forever and never see the grave. They may name their estates after themselves, but their fame will not last. We are all going to die, all of us. Some of the reasons I left a job I had working with cancer patients was because of survivor guilt. My patients were dying, and I was getting older and although I could offer some restoration of their symptoms, I ultimately could not stop the process of dying. It is only by the grace of God that we can change our ultimate destination of the grave. We can forgive, become a better version of ourselves by being reborn, and even through surgery restore old joints and broken muscles but life has an expiration date for everyone in the world. Listen to this all you, people! It is in God we trust.

Prayer: Heavenly Father who gives us life open our hearts to your redeeming love as we daily journey towards you. Amen.
