Jeremiah 29:4-7 “This is what the LORD of Heaven’s Armies, the God of Israel, says to all the captives He has exiled to Babylon from Jerusalem: build homes and plan to stay. Plant gardens, marry and have children. ….And work for the peace and prosperity of the city where I set you into exile. Pray to the LORD for it, for its welfare will determine your welfare.”

The Prophet Jeremiah wrote to the captives in Babylon instructing them to get on with their lives and pray for the pagan nation that enslaved them. Life can’t stop even when you have hardship. In these hard situations that you find yourselves in, we must keep moving forward.  Keep praying even when the nation’s leaders are evil and corrupt because that is when your prayers are most needed.

If we see nations in this world who’s authority is evil, we need to pray for those nations. In times of trouble and difficult, this is when our prayers are most needed. The Lord is asking us to pray for these nations. In fact, we are to pray diligently and keep moving ahead doing what we can rather than giving up because of fear of the unknown.

Prayer: Loving God, we pray for the leaders of all nations. May they lead with compassion and integrity.  Help us to pray continuously for justice and peace in all the world. Amen.
