Pray

James 5: 7-20 v 13 “Are any of you suffering hardships? You should pray. Are any of you happy you should sing praises.”

Be patient as you wait for the Lord’s return. Don’t grumble about each other, brothers and sisters, or you will be judged. For examples of patience in suffering, look at the prophets, like Job. You can see how the Lord was kind to him in the end. Are any of you suffering hardships? You should pray. Are any of you happy you should sing praises. Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. Restore wandering believers.

This time of year, is stressful as we try and add the perfect dinner, present under a tree, and decorations to our already busy lives. This passage today gives us time to think about the bigger picture of how to spend our days. Be patient with the extra traffic and the longer lines at the checkout. Don’t grumble about your family and friends. Be patient like Job as our aging bodies challenge us. The Lord will be kind in the end. In suffering pray, in happiness sing, and realize that we all have faults that add to anxiety, let them go. Spend an extra minute with those who believe but are wandering.

Prayer: Heavenly Father as we rush around doing help us to spend an extra few minutes in prayer and singing. Amen.
