Genesis 12: 1-4a v 4a” So Abram departed as the Lord had instructed, and Lot went with him.”
The Lord had said to Abram, “Leave your native country, your relatives, and your father’s family and go to the land that I will show you. I will bless those who bless you and curse those who treat you with contempt. So, Abram departed as the Lord had instructed, and Lot went with him.
In the Old Testament God speaks clearly and directly to those who have a “starring role” about the things He wants done. Not everyone answers happily and immediately, think of Jonah who comes into the story close to the end of the Old Testament. And even those called make big mistakes, think of King David. Throughout the bible real human failures are seen in contrast to those who without question follow God’s instructions. God keeps his promises. He blesses those and those around them. Try living this week with the confidence that when you follow God’s instructions you and all those around you will be blessed!
Prayer: Heavenly Father open our eyes, our ears and our hearts to the instructions that you are giving us this week, and to simply follow. Amen.
