Born Blind!

John 9: 1-41 v 37-38 “Ever since the world began, no one has been able to open the eyes of someone born blind. If this man were not from God, he couldn’t have done it.”

As Jesus was walking along, He saw a man who had been blind from birth. “Why was this man born blind?” “This happened so that the power of God could be seen in him. But while I am here in this world, I am the light of the world.” Then he spit on the ground made mud with the saliva and spread the mud over the blind man’s eyes. He told him, “Go wash yourself in the pool of Siloam”. So the man went and washed and came back seeing! His neighbors and others who knew him as a blind beggar asked each other, “Isn’t this the man who used to sit and beg?” Some said he was and others said no. They took the man to the Pharisees. Others said, “How can an ordinary sinners do such miraculous signs?” So there was a deep division of opinion among them. They asked his parents. His parents replied, “We know this is our son and he was born blind.” The Pharisees again asked the man who healed him? We know God spoke to Moses, but we don’t even know where this man came from. Ever since the world began, no one has been able to open the eyes of someone born blind. If this man were not from God, he couldn’t have done it. Then Jesus told him, “I entered this world to render judgement- to give sight to the blind and to show those who think they can see that they are blind.”

People who knew the blind man were divided. Some could see he was the same person, others could not. Some of the Pharasees believed Jesus was a prophet others could not. The man himself believed. Jesus said that was why He came, to give sight to the blind and show those who think they can see that they are blind.

“Some Pharisees who were standing nearby heard Him and asked, “Are you saying we’re blind?”

In our lives today we are given signs from God and must choose whether to see them and act on them or to remain blind, and stumble through life without God. I hope that you have made the choice to see!

Prayer: Almighty God who loves the world open the eyes today of those who choose to believe you do miraculous things, in Jesus name we pray. Amen.
