I am the Lord your God”

Exodus 16 2-4, 9-15 v 12 “I ‘ve heard the Israelites complaining. Tell them “At dusk you will eat meat, and in the morning, you will eat all the food you want. Then you will know that I am the Lord your God.”

In the Old Testament God talks directly to certain people and here we find He listens to the complaints of the people. Then, gives clear instructions and asks that the people follow them. Pretty simple and easy to do? In this passage from Exodus clear instructions about how much food to gather are given. Do the Israelites follow the instructions? No, some collect too much, others not enough but despite this they all are measured to have the same amount and they are all satisfied with what they have to eat.

Does God provide for the basic needs of the Church today? Answer our complaints with clear instructions? The people who attend traditional churches in the Western world are declining. Many people during the pandemic who were unable to attend Church in person have not spent any time with religious practices. As I drive around Ontario I can see church buildings are being sold and changed into apartments, pubs, and restaurants. So where is God in our lives today?

God promises to provide for all our needs and “Then you will know that I am the Lord your God”

Take some time today to start looking after your spiritual side…..Thank God for all He has provided , say sorry for the not so good things you have done this week, and look at how you can offer a helping hand to others. The rules are simple. God will provide.

Prayer: Bountiful God who promises to provide our bodies with the food we need, our minds with the nourishment from your word, and your joy deep in our hearts, help us to feel your presence today and everyday. Thanks be to God. Amen
