Luke 3: 15-17, 21-22. V 22 “the Holy Spirit in bodily form, descended on Him like a dove. And a voice from heaven said” You are my dearly loved Son, and you bring me great joy”.
John was baptizing with water. He was preparing the way. The one who was coming was far greater than John. John was not fit to untie the straps of his sandals. When Jesus was baptized all who were there were witnesses to a great event. God did not hold back he sent a dove and his voice from heaven told all who Jesus was and like any supportive father to a son said, “you bring me great joy.”
The Holy Spirit sometimes referred to as teacher in the bible is just that, teaches us today what God wants for us and how we need to be to do God’s work. Jesus knew John had to baptize Him, that it was an important step for him and in fact it marked the start of his ministry on earth. Jesus’s path changed after his baptism. Ours does too. If we are guided by the Holy Spirit and allow him to teach us our actions and our path will be different too. Our goal to bring the Father great joy allows us to humbly ask for directions and follow where the Holy Spirit leads us.

Prayer: Holy God thank you for sending the Holy Spirit to change us, and to lead us to where you want us to go, In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
