Praise

Psalm 71:1-6  v5 “O Lord, you alone are my hope. I’ve trusted you. O Lord, from childhood.”

“Be my rock of safety where I can always hide. No wonder I am always praising you!” I have often been so busy with my life that I haven’t spent the time to really appreciate that God was with me on the journey too. Being brought up in a Christian home going to church on Sunday was a normal part of the week. I remember walking safely with my siblings to a small church in the woods to attend Sunday school without my parents and feeling very grown up. Visiting my grandparents and going to Sunday school with my grandfather literally as he came and sat with me in class, my rock. Helping find the page in the hymn book when my grandmother was older, and she was lost, doing what is right.

Praise, in the original Greek, means to sing, to tell of, to give, or to confess. In simpler terms, it means to be thankful for God’s blessings, and to declare the good news about God to others.

Over the years I have experienced many different songs of praise. It is a time to stop and realize that God is with us every day, to hope and trust in Him.  Whether listening to a band, a large choir, a solo, jazz, the joining in shows thanks to God, to say sorry, to pray, to hope, to trust in God. Praise ye the Lord. Hallelujah!
